Class Description
Ever had a desire to write a poetry collection? Or are you an established poet who is ready to work on your next collection? This class is for you! In this 2-hour online class we will read from four different poetry collections and examine the techniques of each poet. We will dive into the poetry of contemporary poets: Kathleen McClung, Leigh Lucas, Angela Trudell Vasquez, and Kimberly Ann Priest. This course will focus specifically on chapbooks, which are small poetry collections of 40 pages or under. By the end of this 10-week course, you will have completed a portion of your own poetry chapbook! This class is great for both beginners who may be looking for guidance on where to start, as well as established writers who are looking for a structured environment to produce poetry. This class will also function as a workshop where at least two of your poems will be workshopped by your peers. Our workshop format will use the Liz Lerman Response Process, allowing both the writer and classmates to participate in a dialogue about the poem. A certificate of completion will be granted to those who complete the full course. Workshop limit is 12 poets! Sign up ASAP and reserve your spot before registration closes!

Praise for The Kristen Dunn Writing Series:
“Kelilah created a really thoughtful and engaging workshop. I appreciated how much attention was given to craft while still leaving room for people to take risks and figure things out on the page. It felt like a space where the work was taken seriously, but not in a way that made it intimidating to share. The feedback was one of the most valuable parts for me. It was specific and actually useful, and it made me look at my own writing differently week to week. I came away from the class feeling more connected to my writing and more willing to push myself.”
- Rachel M
“I very much enjoyed the class I had with Kelilah. I came into it never having taken a poetry writing anything before, just dabbled in it on my own at home. It challenged me in my writing and broadened my understanding of what poetry is. I also would like to note the peer review was super amazing, everyone was really kind and thoughtful about their feedback. If you’re looking for a space to be inspired, write poetry, and work on it with your peers, this is the place for it.”

Poetry Collections
This book is full of Kristen’s memories. It’s going to be a customer delight for the Readers to read them one by one just like opening a Pandora’s box. She has started the book with Game of Life to end with She Grew. The experience that everyone takes over the course of life! This seemed very unique to me.
-Shubhaangi Kundalkar, Author of Justaju-In Search of Life
This collection of highly personal, emotive poems is woven of alternating melancholy and hope. Touching on love, loss, and rebirth, images of the sun, the moon, the lake, and the secret park paint a mood and reflect growth toward acceptance and adulthood. The best pieces are peppered with lines of stark imagery and aural impact, including passages like "He brought me to life just to kill me again," "I owe all that I am to every closed door," and "Sitting on a train, together we sit alone." The lasting impression is of a poet who has lived a lifetime of experiences condensed into a handful of years.
